    • Up for auction is a delightful De Porceleyne Fles small bud vase.
    The date code seems to be AY which corresponds to 1929.
    It has apparently suffered some damage, as there is a repair at the top of the vase. Also there is some minor crazing, normal with all De Fles items of this age, which only adds to its vintage charm.
    It is just under 3 inches tall.
    Founded in 1635, De Porceleyne Fles (The Porcelain Jar or Bottle) is Holland’s most famous Delft Blue factory. Of the dozens of original 17th century Dutch pottery makers, only De Porceleyne Fles remains in operation. Collectors know that delftware produced by De Porceleyne Fles, (also known as Royal Delft,) is recognized to be the standard against which all delftware is judged. Each piece is coded with the factory mark, an item number, the artist’s initials, a date code.
